ART UNCUT is an Art Therapy program which is being implemented by Amaka. with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Sports. It includes experiential art workshops mainly taking place in cultural institutions, and is aimed at people with disabilities / psychiatric disorders living in psychosocial rehabilitation units or psychiatric hospitals.

Through art workshops, participants have the chance to interact with the exhibits, to explore and express different aspects of the Self, and from plain visitors-spectators to become creators,

“ART UNCUT” visits various Cultural institutions in Athens and Thessaloniki, It also travels to Mental Health institutions in the Province, in order to facilitate access of vulnerable groups to Art and their active participation in artistic creation as a means of expression and advocacy. .

“ART UNCUT” aims to raise awareness and engage the community on issues related to integration of people with disabilities / psychiatric disorders and their access to Culture and Art, as a universal Human Right.

The program adopts the “Museum as a vehicle for Social Change” approach (Kawashima, 2006), Its goal is to influence society and explore ways that promote positive social change. In this sense, Museum exhibits provide a public open space for dialogue, lift of stereotypes through art education and promotion of self-advocacy for people with psychiatric experience and disability.
