Α playback theatre performance
During the exhibition THIVA KM102, on Monday March 2 2015, the Association of Dramatic Expression and Therapy “Pulse” will present an innovative for Greek standards method of animation and social interaction using theatrical play.
Playback theatre is a form of community theatre where people share their stories, watch them being performed on stage on the spot by a group of trained actors and feel the sense of belonging. First established in N.Y. in the seventies, this form of theatre was introduced in Greece in 2004, within the frame of the Association of Dramatic Expression and Therapy “Palmos”. Its aim is theatre as a means for social, educational and therapeutic change.
This performance will offer the opportunity to all its participants to share stories of freedom, boundaries and creativity. Stories of people who have experienced imprisonment or live actually in jail are welcome. Stories of spiritual freedom in seclusion will meet stories of suppression of people who are supposed to be free.
Under the guidance of Lambros Yotis, psychiatrist and dramatherapist, playback leader, with studies and professional experience in theatre and acting, a group of performers (actors, dancers, musicians, singers, stage and light designers) after special training in theatre improvisation, dramatherapy and psychodrama techniques, will perform on stage the audiences’ stories.
